Outsourcing vs In-house: When to hire your first VA or Agency

On this page

The Hybrid Team

You can't do everything. But you shouldn't hire a $150k/year employee for every task. You need to know what to keep **In-House** and what to **Outsource**.

1. Keep the Core

Never outsource your **Unique Value Proposition (UVP)**. If your SaaS is an AI powered code generator, your AI and Backend logic must be built by you or your core team. If you outsource that, you lose the ability to innovate quickly.

2. Outsource the Commodity

Things you should outsource early:

  • **Virtual Assistants (VA):** For customer support, data entry, and lead research.
  • **Specialized Agencies:** For SEO, Design, or specific high-level security audits.
  • **Non-Core Code:** Like building a simple Chrome extension or a marketing site.

4. Career Mastery

Q: "Isn't outsourcing risky for code quality?"

Architect Answer: "Yes, if you don't have a **Review System**. As an architect-founder, you must act as the 'Gatekeeper'. Every line of outsourced code must pass your PR review. Never give an agency the keys to your `main` branch without oversight."
