Personal Branding: Writing technical blogs and building an audience

Building Your Tech Authority
The best jobs never appear on job boards. They are offered to people the company already knows and respects. Writing is the fastest way to build that respect at scale.
1. The "Learn in Public" Ethos
Don't wait until you are an expert to write. Write to become an expert. When you learn something new (like RAG patterns or Kestrel internals), write a blog post about it. It solidifies your knowledge and acts as a 'Knowledge Resume' for potential employers.
2. Where to Write?
- Medium/Dev.to: Good for immediate reach.
- Personal Blog (Ghost/Next.js): Good for long-term SEO and control.
- Substack: Good for building a loyal 'Email List' of followers.
3. Content that Wins
The most shared technical content is **Comparative** (React vs Svelte) or **Post-Mortem** (How we fixed X). People love learning from others' mistakes. Be honest about your failures—it makes you more relatable and trustworthy.
4. Career Mastery
Q: "I'm not a good writer. What should I do?"
Architect Answer: "Technical writing is about **Clarity**, not poetry. Use short sentences, clear headings, and lots of code snippets. Think of it like writing a high-quality README. You are helping someone solve a problem. If you can explain a concept to a junior dev, you can write a great technical blog."
