What is this?

$.ajax(options) is the full control surface: method, url, data, headers, contentType, dataType, timeout, and more. Shortcuts call this under the hood.

Why should you care?

Production QueryVerse calls need headers, timeouts, and explicit methods — $.ajax keeps them in one object.

What happened?

  • dataType tells jQuery how to parse.
  • contentType describes what you send.
  • beforeSend can attach tokens.
  • Keep options objects reusable per API client module.

Practice next

  1. Run the request and read name/email.
  2. Lower timeout to 1 and fail on a slow network simulation if possible.
  3. Add beforeSend to set a header.
  4. Return $.ajax(...) from a function for callers to chain.
  5. Use statusCode map for 401 handling.

Remember

$.ajax is the full API. Set method, headers, timeout. Reuse option builders.

Typed API client

A PhonePe Switch partner QueryVerse module standardizes every call through $.ajax options.

Outcome: Timeouts and custom headers are consistent across screens.
