clone Nodes
Setup & DOM → Events Effects AJAX → Perf & Integrate → Ship & Projects
Setup & DOM · 1 — Select · ~6 min · DOM Updates
What is this?
clone() copies matched elements. clone(true) also copies element data and event handlers. Insert the clone with append/after as needed.
Why should you care?
Repeating address blocks or charge rows in QueryVerse is faster with clone than rebuilding markup by hand.

Run Example »
Edit the code below and click Run to see the result in Toolliyo’s live editor.
What happened?
- Default clone(false) skips events/data.
- After cloning, clear unique ids and field values.
- Delegation on a parent often beats cloning handlers with clone(true).
Practice next
- Duplicate a row and type a new city.
- Click Duplicate on the clone.
- Inspect whether ids would collide if you had used id=.
- Strip id attributes on the clone with .removeAttr("id").
- Clone a table row for a new invoice line.
Remember
clone copies structure. clone(true) copies events/data. Reset ids and values on copies.
Multi-city delivery
A Delhivery partner QueryVerse form lets merchants add more drop cities on one shipment.
Outcome: clone(true) duplicates the row; empty city is ready for input.
