What is this?

$.get(url[, data][, success][, dataType]) issues HTTP GET and returns a jqXHR. Prefer chaining .done/.fail/.always for clarity over the old success-only argument.

Why should you care?

QueryVerse widgets often refresh JSON lists from read APIs with GET.

What happened?

  • GET should be safe/idempotent.
  • Pass query data as an object for encoding.
  • Check status in fail.
  • Same-origin apps use relative URLs like /api/todos/1.

Practice next

  1. Click load and read the JSON.
  2. Change the id in the URL path.
  3. Log xhr.status in fail by breaking the URL temporarily.
  4. Try $.getJSON for JSON-only.
  5. Abort with jqXHR.abort() on navigation.

Remember

get = GET helper. Handle fail. Prefer .done/.fail chains.

Todo tile refresh

A Jio platforms QueryVerse ops tile pulls a sample task over GET during training.

Outcome: done/fail paths both update the tile text.
