What is this?

map(fn) transforms each element into a value and returns a new jQuery-wrapped array-like; call .get() for a plain array. Handy for payloads and label lists.

Why should you care?

QueryVerse bulk assign modals collect selected ids with map before POSTing.

What happened?

  • Returning null/undefined from map skips that item.
  • $.map(array, fn) works on plain arrays.
  • Do not confuse with Array#map unless you already called .get().

Practice next

  1. Collect checked ids.
  2. Uncheck one and collect again.
  3. Map to objects {id, name}.
  4. Map selected option texts.
  5. Feed ids into $.ajax data.

Remember

map transforms to values. .get() → plain array. Skip with null return.

Bulk assign ids

An Amex India HR QueryVerse modal assigns a course to checked employees.

Outcome: map().get() builds the id array for the API.
