What is this?

$.post(url[, data][, success][, dataType]) sends HTTP POST. Body data can be a serialized form string or a plain object (jQuery encodes as form fields by default).

Why should you care?

Creating leads, notes, and tickets in QueryVerse is almost always POST.

Examples include the jQuery 3.7 CDN. Paste into an HTML file or use Run Example to preview.

What happened?

  • For JSON APIs expecting application/json, use $.ajax with contentType and JSON.stringify.
  • CSRF tokens often required on same-site posts — covered in a later lesson.

Practice next

  1. Post and read the echoed id from jsonplaceholder.
  2. Change the title and post again.
  3. Inspect the Network tab method and payload.
  4. Use $("#form").serialize() as data.
  5. Add .always to re-enable the button.

Remember

post = POST helper. Objects become form fields by default. Disable buttons while in flight.

Create task API

A Monday.com-like QueryVerse board for a Hyderabad PM team creates tasks via POST.

Outcome: $.post returns the created resource echo for UI insert.
