Tabs with jQuery

Perf & Integrate · 3 — Harden · ~10 min · App Integration

What is this?

Tabs: buttons with aria-selected toggle panels; one panel visible at a time. Drive state with classes and optional hash URLs — no plugin required for basic QueryVerse settings.

Why should you care?

Settings and profile screens almost always need lightweight tabs.

What happened?

  • Keep keyboard support (arrows) as a follow-up.
  • Do not destroy inactive panel state unless needed.
  • Sync hash with location.hash if deep links matter.

Practice next

  1. Switch tabs and watch aria-selected.
  2. Confirm only one panel shows.
  3. Add a third tab.
  4. Lazy-load panel HTML on first open.
  5. Add ArrowLeft/ArrowRight keydown.

Remember

One active tab. Toggle panels with classes. Wire aria states.

Settings tabs

A Chargebee-like QueryVerse billing settings page switches Profile vs Security.

Outcome: Class + aria tabs work without a heavy widget pack.
