Table Filter Pattern

Setup & DOM ✓Events Effects AJAX ✓Perf & IntegrateShip & Projects

Perf & Integrate · 3 — Harden · ~10 min · App Integration

What is this?

Filter table rows by binding input on a search box and toggling row visibility with .filter / .toggle based on row text or data-* fields.

Why should you care?

QueryVerse index pages need instant client filters before server paging kicks in.

What happened?

  • Debounce if filtering huge tables or hitting the server.
  • Consider hiding thead differently from body rows.
  • For server filter, keep the same UX but AJAX reload tbody.

Practice next

  1. Filter by name and department substrings.
  2. Clear the box to restore.
  3. Count shown rows.
  4. Stripe visible rows after filter.
  5. Empty-state message when shown===0.

Remember

input → toggle rows. Count visible. Debounce when needed.

Employee quick filter

An Infosys QueryVerse staffing table filters locally while HR types in Mysuru.

Outcome: Rows toggle live with a visible count.
