What is this?

Some users enable prefers-reduced-motion. Detect it and skip or shorten animations so QueryVerse stays usable during vestibular sensitivity or simply preference.

Why should you care?

Inclusive enterprise UIs in India must respect OS accessibility settings on shared ops machines.

Examples include the jQuery 3.7 CDN. Paste into an HTML file or use Run Example to preview.

What happened?

  • Check matchMedia once at boot and when the media query changes.
  • Provide non-animated equivalents — show/hide is enough.
  • Document the habit in the team checklist.

Practice next

  1. Read the preference line.
  2. Click Notify and observe path taken.
  3. Toggle OS reduce-motion if you can and reload.
  4. Listen to mq.addEventListener("change", ...).
  5. Disable parallax entirely when reduce is true.

Remember

Respect reduced motion. Branch effect vs instant show. Re-check on media changes.

Accessible ops banner

A government e-office QueryVerse inbox used by clerks with OS reduce-motion enabled.

Outcome: Notifications appear instantly instead of sliding.
