Modal Confirm Pattern

Perf & Integrate · 3 — Harden · ~10 min · App Integration

What is this?

Replace window.confirm with an in-page modal: show overlay, focus the primary action, resolve a Deferred/Promise on OK/Cancel, then run the destructive AJAX.

Why should you care?

QueryVerse delete actions in enterprises often must be keyboard-accessible and branded.

What happened?

  • Trap focus inside the modal for a11y when polishing.
  • Use one() so handlers do not stack.
  • Prefer a shared $.fn.qvConfirm in real apps.

Practice next

  1. Delete then OK.
  2. Delete then Cancel.
  3. Open twice and ensure one() does not leak.
  4. Return focus to the opener.
  5. Add role="dialog" and aria-modal.

Remember

In-page modal > window.confirm. Promise/Deferred for flow. one() for buttons.

Delete confirm

A Zoho Invoice QueryVerse list asks before deleting a GST invoice in Ahmedabad ops.

Outcome: Modal promise drives the mock delete without blocking the browser thread like confirm().
