What is this?

Animate fewer nodes, avoid layout thrash, stop queues, and prefer opacity/transform-friendly CSS. Measuring with DevTools Performance catches QueryVerse jank early.

Why should you care?

Dense admin tables cannot animate every cell on filter — batch and simplify.

What happened?

  • One class toggle beats N fades.
  • Cache selections.
  • Do not read layout properties between writes in a loop.
  • Debounce resize/scroll handlers that trigger effects.

Practice next

  1. Run the bad path and feel the cost.
  2. Run the good path and compare.
  3. Open Performance recorder if available.
  4. Animate a parent wrapper instead of children.
  5. Profile before micro-optimizing AJAX.

Remember

Fewer animated nodes. Class toggles over N fades. Stop and debounce.

Dense grid hygiene

An NSE back-office QueryVerse blotter with hundreds of rows was fading each cell on refresh.

Outcome: A parent class toggle restores interactive frame rates.
